National People's Congress Tibet delegation visits Canada

A National People's Congress (NPC) delegation of lawmakers from China's Tibet Autonomous Region visited Canada from May 6 to 9, meeting and communicating with people from all walks of life in Canada to provide a comprehensive introduction to Tibet's economic and social development.

The delegation introduced the historical changes that have taken place since the implementation of the regional ethnic autonomous system in Tibet and the historic economic and social achievements made by Tibet during the 40 years since the reform and opening-up policy. They invited Canadians to visit Tibet, witness the socialist new Tibet of today, and listen to the ideas of the Tibetan people to get a further understanding of the true situation in Tibet.

The Canadian side said that Canada attaches great importance to developing relations with China, and the Canada-China Legislative Association will continue to work to promote the development of friendly cooperation between the two countries. And the Ontario Province is willing to strengthen cooperation with China in the areas of economy, trade, science, technology, and tourism.

During the visit, the delegation also exchanged views with local Tibetans in Ottawa and Toronto, held discussions with experts and scholars from Carleton University and the Canadian Institute of Foreign Affairs, and held a collective interview with the media.
