Miracles shown by marriage custom in Sopa Fishing Village
Sopa Village in Chushur County of Lhasa Municipality is the only village in Tibet with a fishing business. The unique culture of this village includes ancient traditional customs. One in particular is a strange marriage custom.

In the past 60 years, the forms of marriages have great changes with the development of society.In 1950, China issued the first "Marriage Law" which abolished arranged or forced marriage, let men and women enjoy the equal rights.

Crossing Walls to Date Girls in Zhaba 2005-03-12
In Zhaba, whenever a boy falls in love with a girl, no ceremony is necessary. The boy only has to cross the 10-meter-high wall of the girl's house to spend the night with her. Children born in this way are brought up by the mothers; the fathers are exempt from responsibility, but make some efforts in terms of support under obligation. In their own maternal families, males play assisting roles in bringing up their sisters' children.

It is the local tradition for the young to stay with their parents even when they have got married. In many cases, three generations live under the same roof. Sometimes, more than 20 family members live under one roof.
Living customs of Sherpa people 2005-10-19
The name system of Sherpa people in Tibet is similar to that of the Nepalese people. Sherpa people in Lixing have been living there for some 260 years; they originally came from Sharzebo of Nepal; but some others say they came from Garze of Sichuan.
