A cultural exchange delegation from China's Tibet Autonomous Region held a lecture at Asia House in Barcelona, Spain, Xinhua reported.
Nearly a hundred local members of mainstream society and overseas Chinese representatives attended the lecture on the developments and progress of Tibet, which also included face-to-face discussions.
Wang Yanzhong, head of the Tibetan delegation and also director of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology in Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, gave a detailed introduction into the overall situation in Tibet focusing on three main aspects: Tibet’s weak foundations of development, rapid development since peaceful liberation of Tibet and reform and opening up, and the inheritance and protection of Tibetan cultural heritages.
Sonam Dondrup, member of the delegation and Vice Secretary General of the Tibet International Culture Association, talked about the development and current situation of Tibetan cultural education and school construction from his own experience.
A famous Tibetan opera artist, Biandian Wangchuk, expressed hope that in the future they can bring a Tibetan opera troupe to Barcelona to give the local Spanish people the chance to experience the charm of Tibetan art firsthand.
After the lecture, the delegation also answered questions from local media reporters.
After the event finished in Barcelona, the delegation went to Madrid, capital of Spain followed by Bratislava, capital of Slovakia.
