Greek scholars: Tibet undergoes earthshaking changes

"Tibet is undergoing 'earthshaking' changes."

Gregory Prastacos, president of Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), co-chairman of the Confucius Institute of Athens said on 25th when his delegation was visiting Tibet.

"We will take objective and real stories about Tibet as well as the passion of Tibetan people back to people of Athens and Europe together,"he said.
Cui Yuying, Chairman of the Association for Foreign and Cultural Exchange of Tibet Autonomous Region met with the delegation in Lhasa on 25th.

Gregory Prastacos admitted that the delegation had little knowledge about Tibet before coming to visit. But they witnessed a real modern Tibet with their own eyes through traveling in Tibet. He was impressed by Tibet's tremendous development achieved thanks to Chinese Central Government's huge investment in Tibet's economy, culture, etc.
It is reported that during their stay, the delegation visited schools, hospitals and farmers' households in Lhasa and Nyingchi Prefecture. In the meantime, they also paid visits to the Potala Palace, the Jokhang Temple and other monasteries so as to learn how Tibet' traditional culture has been preserved and how Tibet has stepped onto the road of modernization.

Scholars and journalists of the delegation observed that it was the historical leap forward in Tibet's social system that Tibet's social productive forces had finally been able to be improved, which in turn has laid a solid foundation for Tibet's economic and social development. They also stated that they would contribute to promoting understanding and knowledge of Greek people toward China's Tibet.
