The Shigatse Airport opened to the public on July 8, news from China Civil Aviation Administrartion. It's another tribute to Tibet's 60 anniversary of peaceful liberation.
Before opening, relevant authorities have conducted a series of trial tests on the facilities of the airport, and trainings to the staff . Currently, this airport has two-way flights from Shigatse to Chengdu, capital of Tibet's neighboring province.
The flight will be operated on Monday, Wednesday and Friday every week. Tickers are available in Shigatse and the airport buses are ready as well.
The airport is 48 kilometers away from the Shigatse city proper. It expansion was started on April, 29, 2009.
