The quake hit Yushu of Qinghai on Wednesday morning causes no harm to operation of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, said Wang Yongping, spokesman of the Ministry of Railway.
The nearest section of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway to the epicenter is 362 kilometers away.
A quake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale hit Yushu County of Qinghai's Tibetan-inhabited area in western China.
The epicenter lies 50 km west of Jiegu Township, the government seat of the Yushu Prefecture, and about 800 km away from Xining, the provincial capital.
The Ministry of Railway is going all out to assure the smooth delivery of disaster relief materials via railway.
Liu Zhijun, minister of the Ministry of Railway promises to deliver the disaster relief materials upon receiving them as a response to the quake.
