Tibet Autonomous Region had received 21.25 million tourists from home and abroad during 11th Five-Year Plan (2006-2010), up 30.06% year by year, and Tibet achieved 22.62 billion yaun of tourism income with the average annual growth rate of 29.8%, according to sources from the Tourism Bureau of Tibet Autonomous Region.
In the past five years, Tibet launched many projects which boosted the development of the local tourism.

The operation of Qinghai-Tibet Railway, the Nyingchi Airport, the Ngari Airport, brought more convenience to tourists.
The Lhasa-Shigatse Railway has started construction during 11th Five-Year Plan and some tourist highways in some attractions are under construction as well.
