"Be a good teacher and never change your profession," Kyugu still remembers his teacher's advice.
Kyugu is the deputy headmaster and Tibetan language teacher of the Tibetan Middle School in Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture in southwest China's Sichuan Province.
Born in 1965, Kyugu was one of the first batch of 90 students of Tibetan Middle School. After graduation from Tibetan Middle School in 1983, he was admitted to Barkam National Normal College and studied Tibetan language.
The college was far away from home and Kyugu's family was poor. But he persuaded his parents to believe that "nowadays, knowledge could give people an opportunity to live a decent life, but in the past, it was not given much attention in the Tibetan-inhabited area."
After graduation from college, Kyugu first worked as a Tibetan teacher in Gedengma Primary School in Jian Town of Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture.
Jian Town was a very remote inaccessible area where it would take Kyugu 12 hours to go to school from home after climbing several snowy mountains.
There were only three teachers at that school. However, Kyugu taught there for 6 years despite all the hardships, for he knew that students there need him.
In 1995, he took an advanced study in Northwest University for Nationalities. After graduation, the Public Security Bureau of Aba County tried to recruit Kyugu because he knew both Tibetan language and Chinese.
Even through the pay and working environment was much better than that in the school, Kyugu declined the request, for the Tibetan language teaching was much more important in his heart.
Kyugu still remembers his first Tibetan class in the Tibetan Middle School. In order to check students' Tibetan language level, he asked a student to read a text. The student's performance disappointed Kyugu.
To help students study Tibetan language, Kyugu learnt more about every student and made a special teaching plan based on the students' actual situation.
Because of his devoted work, Kyugu was elected as vice headmaster of Tibetan Middle School in 2012.
When talking about his 27-year teaching in school, Kyugu said the happiest moment for him is receiving students'greetings and witnessing their achievements.
