The 2014 Qinghai Lake International Walking Festival was opened in Ganzi River Camp, north of Qinghai Lake in Qinghai Province, Aug. 2, 2014, Xinhua reported.

Themed as "Fearless heart and infinite beauty", the walking festival has attracted over 1,000 hikers to arrive there, appropriately three times the number of 2012. It is the 3rd year for some of them to walk around the Qinghai Lake.

With a total distance of 110 kilometers, the four-day competition starts from the Ganzi River Camp and ends in the Erlangjian Scenic Spot.

"Besides helping build up people’s body, the walking festival is conductive to presenting public great charm of Qinghai Lake. This is our objective here," said Yangpei, deputy director of Qinghai Sports Bureau.

The increasing number of participants marks the festival has gained more recognition in recent years, he added.
