Children in the Tibet autonomous region will get free preschool education starting this fall, cnr.cn reported.
The move makes Tibet the first place in China to offer 15 years of free education, which includes three years of preschool, six years of primary school, three years of junior high school and three years of senior high school.
The government plans to make an investment of more than 2.6 billion yuan ($ 412 million) in education. "We plan to build 10 bilingual kindergartens, three senior high schools and three vocational high schools this year," said Heping, director of Tibet's education department.
