Tibetans celebrate Bathing Festival in Lhasa

A man splashes water on another man by a stream on the outskirts of Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, Sept. 14, 2014. Local Tibetans celebrated the annual Bathing Festival, which usually falls on July on Tibetan calendar, in their time-honored ways. Mass bathing starts when Venus rises to the sky and ends when the star sets. Legend goes that bathing at this period is beneficial to health. (Xinhua/Purbu Zhaxi)

Local Tibetans celebrate the annual Bathing Festival, which usually falls in the seventh month of the Tibetan calendar, in their traditional ways. Mass bathing starts when the Star of Karma Doiba rises to the sky and ends when the star sets. Legend goes that bathing at this period is good to their health. (Xinhua/Purbu Zhaxi)
