The 2010 Lhasa Kite Festival kicks off at the Tibet Museum of Lhasa, capital city of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR), Sept. 19, 2010, during which a kite show and a kite competition will be held.
Over 80 kites designed by students, local residents and kite s funs are showcased on the kite show at the Tibet Museum, attracting many visitors to enjoy a world of colorful kites.
The kite show focuses on different themes, such as traditional Tibetan designing named "cross-eyed", "big mustache", "gala" which means pure white, as well as "bangdian" in accordance with Tibetan apron.
"The skill of flying a kite plays an important part in the Tibetan kites. Flying high is only part of the game; we compete with our opponents by trying to cut their kite off. , It is the most interesting and amazing part of our game!" said Wangdor, a local citizen of Lhasa at the kite show.
