Tibetan monks lit butter lamps on the top of the Jokhang Temple in Lhasa, Tibet, to celebrate the Butter Lamp Festival with believers gathering on the Barkhor Street in the evening of Dec. 20. The festival is to commemorate Tsong Khapa, the founder of the Geluk sect of Tibetan Buddhism, who passed away on the 25th of the tenth month in Tibetan calendar in 1419.
