Some military officers of foreign embassies visited the exhibition marking the 60th anniversary of the peaceful liberation of Tibet held at the Beijing Cultural Palace of Nationalities on the afternoon of July 5. They highly praised the fast development and remarkable achievements of Tibet in the past 60 years.
The exhibition, opened since June 15, is still receiving streams of visitors. Being invited by the Ministry of National Defense and International Communication Office of CCCPC, over 60 military officers and deputies from nearly 30 countries came to visit the exhibition and experienced the transformation of Tibet over the past 60 years on the afternoon of July 5.
These officers were immediately attracted by the Tibetan-style ornaments of the exhibition when they went into the exhibition hall. Following the interpreter, officers listened carefully about Tibet at various aspects including its history and culture.
Mr. Severino R. B. Da Paixao, Army Attaché of Brazil embassy in China, said he had better understood the history, culture and lifestyle of Tibetans in Tibet through this exhibition. "The exhibition is very impressive and wonderful. I wish it a great success", he added.
The exhibition, with over 500 pictures, 30 relics, 30 tables and graphs and video clips, focuses on the great course of the peaceful liberation, the remarkable development in Tibet during the past six decades as well as the united and harmonious new life of the Tibetans.
Some of the foreign officers have been to Tibet, so they had deeper development based on their firsthand experience of its development when watching the exhibition.
"I went to Tibet last year, and I experienced an open and livable Tibet thanks to the work the central government has done. The living condition of Tibetans is much better than that of 60 years ago", said Mr. Gebar Abubakr, military officer from Nigeria embassy in China.
The officers were also very interested in the regional autonomy of Tibet and the development of ethnic groups in China.
"I'm happy to watch such a wonderful exhibition and I know that the development of Tibet is mentioned in the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) of China", said Mr. V. A. Nelwamondo, officer of South Africa embassy in China.
These officers exchanged views with the Tibetologists from China Tibetan Research Center and had better understanding about Tibet concerning its ethnic regional autonomy, cultural protection and inheritance and other aspects.
The exhibition is scheduled to show from June 15 to July 8.
