From April 21st to 25th, famous German writer Jens Peter Meyer visited Tibet including places of historical interest, modern enterprises, Tibetan handicraft factories and universities in Shannan Prefecture and Lhasa at the invitation of the Consulate-General of China in Frankfurt,Germarny.
Background
In 2009, I finished my book on critical elaboration on the Dalai Lama and the history of Tibetan Buddhism, as well as the Chinese government's stance on “Tibet issue” from a perspective quite different from the German media. This book caused strong repercussion and shock in the public opinion for I negated the mainstream western views on China and Tibet.
My purpose on taking this trip was to say confidently that I had been to Tibet and I knew what I had said so as to add credibility to my book. On top of that, another purpose was to seek the possibility for continued cooperation with the Chinese side such as jointly shooting a film on Tibet, or translate my book into Chinese and English and publish it in China.
