On May 15, the regional government of Tibet Autonomous Region granted fuel subsidies for motorized wheelchair vehicles for the disabled, as an initiative to mark the "Help The Disabled" day.
Currently, 794 handicapped people in Tibet are eligible for such fuel oil subsidy. Each motorized wheelchair user will receive 200 per year, with a retrospective total of 317,600 yuan for 2009 ad 2010.
Kelsang Tsering, vice chairman of TAR, stressed that departments concerned shall be fully aware of their responsibilities, step further to improve the livelihood and protect the interests of the disabled.
