Chinese Tibetologist Setsang Lozang Palden published 'Setsang collections' on Apr. 8 in Lanzhou, capital city of northwest China's Gansu Province, after 13 years' efforts.

The great work contains 3.1 million words, and its content widely ranges from origin and development of Tibetan Buddhism, Tibetan poetics, monastery record, philosophy of religion, literature, history, biographies, grammar, rhetoric, etc.

In his collections, an early published volume titled "On poetics and rhetoric" has been listed in the textbooks for Tibetan major students across the universities of nationalities in China. Meanwhile, over 200 poems in it have been popular among literature enthusiasts and lamas in monasteries; therefore Setsang gains reputation as "living Buddha poet".

"For writing so many books, I hope they will play a positive role in ethnic regions' economic and cultural development, especially in the remote and backward areas", said Setsang.

The work of translating "Setsang collections" into Chinese is launched at the same time.

"This collection is a masterpiece, which has exerted great influence in Tibetan society and will have epoch-making significance for the inheritance and promotion of Tibetan culture after being translated into Chinese. More people will get access to Tibetan Buddhism and culture through the work", said Doreshe, a Tibetology expert and professor in Northwest University for Nationalities.

Setsang, over 70-year-old, is the sixth living Buddha in Terdrlong Monastery in Amdo. He has been to Tibet for learning and later threw himself into the teaching career in senior institute of Buddhist Studies. He has worked hard on writing to fulfill the cultural mission of carrying forward the heritage of Tibetan Buddhism.
