11th Panchen donates to Yushu victims

The 11th Panchen Lama, Bainqen Erdini Qoigyijabu sent messages of sympathy and donated 100,000 yuan to quake-affected victims in Yushu County, China's Qinghai Province.

The 11th Panchen Lama also required monks in the Tashilhunpo Monastery of Xigaze to chant sutra to pray for those who have lost their lives, their families and others who have been affected in this tragedy.

In the message, the 11th Panche Lama said he felt very woeful and surprised to know that the 7.1-magnitude earthquake in Yushu has killed hundreds of people and caused great property losses. He believed that the quake-affected people will tide over the disaster and rebuild their hometown under the leading of the Communist Party and helps from all over the country, according to the United Front Work Department of China.
