Emergency Plan of Meteorologic Disasters was launched.

The Meteorological Disaster Emergency Plan was officially released in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) on Nov. 19, in a bid to improve the regional emergency response system as well as its ability to handle meteorological disasters in TAR. 

"In the past, Tibet only had to make temporary arrangements to deal with unexpected natural disasters when no such a plan was available to guide the rescue work, which often led to a time lag in the rescue. The new plan will serve as a guideline in which 29 organizations and entities have been assigned with individual responsibilities to work together in case of any natural disaster," said Zhang Younian, deputy secretary-general of the regional government of Tibet.

"Five major natural disasters, namely rainstorm, snowstorm, drought, windstorm as well as strong temperature drop are mentioned in the plan. Besides, rules on the rescue work of organizations and entities concerned will help to regulate their regional emergency response system, and minimize casualty and property loss," said Tenzin Dondrup, vice head of TAR's Meteorological Bureau

Besides, the regional government has also been working on establishing a multimedia platform for disaster warning and information release to support the rescue work upon any disasters.
