Shigatse hosts 36,836 tourists in golden week

During the National day holidays, Shigatse has received 36,836 tourists from home and abroad, receiving a total tourist revenue of 19.34 mln yuan, source from tourism sector in Shigatse Prefecture, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.

Statistics shows that Shigatse has hosted 36,836 domestic and foreign tourists, including 2,269 foreigners with a year-on-year growth of 74%, in the golden week, up 21% over the same period last year. The tourist revenue is reported to grow by 91% compared with the same period last year.

Among all the scenic spots, Mt. Qomolangma has received 4,018 tourists from home and abroad, up 32.39%, earning 2.1419 mln yuan, at an year-on-year growth rate of 64.76%. Scenic spot in Gyangze has served 8,987 domestic and foreign tourists, making1.25 mln yuan.

A tourism authority told, local tourism supervisors has carried out safety inspections before hand over all hotels, restaurants, scenic spots and venues along with other sectors concerned.

Hotels and restaurants in Shigatse launched favorable promotion activities to attract tourists during the holiday week.

No complaint on tourist service was filed during the seven-day holidays and most tourists spoke positively of  the environment and service quality in Shigatse.
