The First Thangka Exhibition is expected to be held from August 2 to 4 in Lhasa, capital city of southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR). In the exhibition, 45 Thangka painters of major schools will display their superb artistic works at the Tibet Museum.
"As one of the main venues of the exhibition, the Tibet Museum will also host Thangka trading activities apart from the on-site demonstration by Thangka painters," said Norbu Tsering, chief of the Properties Division of TAR’s Culture Department. "Besides, Thangka painters of the three top classes will be selected through election."
According to Norbu Tsering, the 2010 TAR Thangka Industry TV Forum will take place at the second venue located at Yarlung Tsangpo Hotel after August 4, where leading figures from the Thangka research circle and Thangka enterprises will attend the forum.
"As the first batch of model bases of TAR’s model cultural industry, another two venues, namely Guyi Art Construction Company located at Chengguan District and the Thangka Production Center of Lhasa Gangdi Trade Co., Ltd., will be open to the public for free," added Norbu Tsering.
