A photo exhibition titled "Tibet: Past and Present" was kicked off at Pokhara, a resort in western Nepal on November 27. The visiting vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of Tibet, Hao Peng, Chinese ambassador to Nepal, Qiu Guohong and about 800 representatives from the local government and parties in attendance.
Co-sponsored by Chinese Embassy to Nepal and Nepal World Culture Web, the exhibition showcases the process of Tibet from darkness to brightness, from poverty to prosperity, from autocratic rule to democracy, and from self-seclusion to opening up in 50 years since its Democratic Reform with over 200 photos.
Hao Peng gave a detailed introduction of the Democratic Reform in Tibet and its great development in 50 years with the support from central government on the opening ceremony.
Prior to this exhibition, "Tibet: Past and Present" was once opened in Katmandu, capital of Nepal and Dharan which attracted some 7,000 Nepalese from all circles. The exhibition in Pokhara will last for 5 days.
