Ethnic handicrafts in Lhatse enjoyed a historical reputation, especially pulu, a Tibetan woolen fabric, which has been inherited generation by generation.

Nowadays, with the booming market economy across China's Tibet, pulu turns to be salable in the market, and weaving pulu tweeds has become a major way of increasing the locals' income in Lhatse. For instance, eight out of ten people from Lhatse Village are skillful pulu weaver.
