Qomolangma Tibetan fonts for Apple Mac published

The QomolangmaTibetan fonts for Apple Mac developed by China Tibetology Research Center was released recently, source from the First Qomolangma Forum on Tibetology kicked off in Beijing on November 23, 2010.

Tashi Tsering, researcher of China Tibetology Research Center and Li Jianxiong, chief art editor of China Tibetology Publishing House introduce the Qomolangma Tibetan fonts for Apple Mac on the First Qomolangma Forum on Tibetology, photo from tibet.cn.

Tashi Tsering, researcher of China Tibetology Research Center and Li Jianxiong, chief art editor of China Tibetology Publishing House present the latest achievements on development of Apple compatible Tibetan fonts, a breakthrough in Qomolangma series font researches on the forum.

As the first user of the software, Li Jianxiong said: "The lack of appropriate Tibetan fonts for Apple Mac computers has greatly impeded the Tibetan publishing work for a long time. As a result, many high-end software could not be applied on the publishing work."

He also pointed out that, the application of this research can increase the efficiency of Tibetan publishing sector greatly. "The one-week work load in the past can be finished in one day right now."

"Facing with jumbled Tibetan codes, the release of Qomolangma Tibetan fonts will contribute to the unification of Tibetan coding system in China. Besides, it is of a profound significance for the learning, using and development of Tibetan language," Li added.
