The First Qomolangma Forum on Tibetology officially kicked off at the China Tibetology Research Center in Beijing on Tuesday, November 23, 2010.
The forum hosted nearly a hundred scholars and experts specializing in Tibetan studies from many institutes, colleges and universities in China.
In the next couple of days, 40 attendees are going to give keynote speeches ranging from Tibetan studies in economy, modern politics, history, religion and Tibetan medicine.
You Luoping, secretary of the Party Committee of China Tibetology Research Center, presided over the forum.
Lhakpa Phuntsok, general director of China Tibetology Research Center, briefed the attendees on major achievements made in Tibetology researches this year and the prospects of the coming 2011.
He said Tibetolgist had made great achievements in 2010. For example, the book titled "Scandals at the foot of the Snowy Mountain: Causes and Effects of Riots in Tibet", published in 2010, revealed the causes and effects of the "3.14" riot in Lhasa in 2008 and three other riots in the 20th century, disclosing the violent nature of the Dalai Lama clique.
The Qomolangma Form on Tibetology, the first of its kind in China, is believed to play an active role in promoting China's researches on Tibetan studies.
