QILIAN, China, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Luka Mezgec from Slovenia's SAVA (SAK) crossed the line first on Wednesday in the sixth stage of the 11th Tour of Qinghai Lake cycling, and put on the green jersey for the best sprinter.
Hossein Alizadeh of Iran's Tabriz Petrochemical Team (TPT) still kept his yellow, blue and polka-dot jersey, which represent the leader of general classification, best Asian rider and best climber respectively.
The sixth stage started at Xihaizhen Township and finished at Mole Township, both located in Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai Province, covering a total distance of 123 kilometers.
The stage featured a Hors categorie climb at an altitude of 3,869 meters above sea level, the highest throughout the entire race, and a Category 2 climb at an altitude of 3,449 meters.
This year's Tour of Qinghai Lake will last 14 days and cover 2,680 kilometers, with the average altitude reaching 2,391 meters and the maximum standing at 3,865 meters.
For the first time, it will span northwest China's Qinghai, Gansu Provinces and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
