The work of replacing copper cable with optical fiber in east Tibet's Chamdo main city zone has been completed recently.
The project would provide the local residents with a more stable and smooth broadband telecommunication services, and promote the informatization in the region. Chamdo has taken a solid step toward a "city of speed".
Since 2010, Chamdo has carried out the project of replacing copper cable with optical fiber in the urban areas. So far, it has displaced a total of 31,000 kilometers of copper wire, laid more than 380 optical nodes, set 21536 voice ports and 13184 data ports.
Currently, after a year of operation and maintenance, broadband users within the Chamdo city enjoy a smoother and more stable Internet services, and the hurdle rate is greatly reduced than that of the "copper age”.
To promote the construction of a "city of speed", Chamdo focuses on raising the speed of broadband and displacing the copper cable. On the basis of "fiber to floor", Chamdo started the construction of "fiber to the home". 1836 households have accessed to the fiber this year.
