2011 Tibet tourist image ambassador contest launched

China's Tibet Autonomous Region held a launching ceremony for the "2011 Tourist Image Ambassador" contest on September 19 in Lhasa, capital of the region.

The three-month contest is scheduled to start from pre-elections in six prefectures and Lhasa to final competitions in Lhasa between the entry candidates. 

According to the Tourism Bureau of Tibet, the application period is from de dato to October 7 and Tibetan girls at the age of 18 to 25 all have access to the aplication.

The contest includes fashion show, talent show, and tourism knowledge interlocution and so on. The organizing committee will invite celebrities from Tibetan art and cultural circles to hold the post of judges. Meanwhile, this competition will also bring in ballots from audiences and audience judges to ensure its fairness.

During the final contest, "Tibet tourism image ambassador" and "Tibet regional image ambassador" will be selected and the outstanding performers will be recommended to work in Tibet Airline.

"We hope this contest can further promote of the development of tourism in Tibet and raise a new tourism upsurge in the region", said Badro, director general of Tourism Bureau in Tibet.

According to records, thousands of Tibetan girls have taken part in the competition by far since it was started in 2005.
