Local authorities in quake-hit Tibetan county mount all-out efforts to prevent disease outbreaks and guard against quake-induced disasters after a 6.9-magnitude earthquake hit Sikkim, Indian, which has influenced Tibet and caused at least 7 people dead and 24 others injured in Yadong county, Tibet on September 18, 2011.
According to Dondrup, director of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Yadong County, a series of environmental disinfections have been carried out in all schools, hospitals, offices and other densely populated areas. The center also teaches villagers knowledge of epidemic prevention after earthquake.
At least seven people in Yadong died in the quake. Twenty-four others were injured; three remain in critical condition.
The tremor damaged 70 percent of the county's buildings, as well as caused hundreds of landslides that disrupted traffic and snarled power and water supply lines in the county.
