The new 10-MW solar photovoltaic power station was grid-connec of Shigatse, Tibet and put into operation on July 6. Another 20-MW solar photovoltaic power generation project was launched at the same time, China Tibet Online reported from Shigetse.
With a total investment of 800 million yuan, the Shigatse solar photovoltaic power station consists of two Phrases. The first phase ,10-MW-power grid, is designed with an annual output of 20.23 million kilowatt-hour, costing 249 million yuan. It is able to meet the needs of 100,000 local households of farmers and herdsmen suppose each of them uses 200 kilowatt-hour every year.
As the largest aid-Tibet project of Shandong Province, the newly-built power station is the highest solar photovoltaic power station sending green energy to the local residents. It is expected to save 9,000 tons of coal every year and effectively reduces 17,820 tons of CO2 emission.
The second-phase project, 20-MW-power grid, is planed to be put into operation by the end of this year. The station is planned to be in service for 15 to 20 years, source from the Linuo Group, builder of the power station.
Besides, the new PV power station will not only helpalleviate the shortage of power supply in Shigatse Prefecture, but also make most of the solar energy resource on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
