Recently, the regional Scientific Development Department has carried out solar energy researches on production of Tibetan carpets in Chengguan District, Lhasa, capital city of Tibet Autonomous Regional (TAR).
The cold weather on the highland has posed negative impact on the production and processing of Tibetan carpets. However, application of advanced heliotechnics in production and processing of Tibetan carpets will improve the production efficiency and thus increase the product competitiveness in the market.
Through numerous tests in various items, the technology combining solar thermal-collector and passive solar-house is proved to be able to provide heat for carpet factories in winter.
Meanwhile, the use of solar thermal-collectors as heaters will not only reduce energy consumption, but also will solve Tibetan carpet's fading problem.
