The train from Beijing to Lhasa has been running safely on the Qinghai-Tibet railway for over 11.68 million kilometers during the past four years since it started operation on July 1, 2006. Over 4.38 million passengers have been transported through this “moving bridge” between the plateau and the inland.
The train numbered T27/T28 which is operated by Beijing-Tibet crew of Beijing Passenger Trains Section covers a one-way distance of 4,064 kilometers in 46 hours. The Beijing-Tibet crew consists of over 500 members in 15 teams who speak three different languages,namely Mandarin, Tibetan and English. They offer13 kinds of services including special dishes served for passengers of Tibetan and Hui ethnic groups, tourist information broadcasting and service cards on the train etc.
Most of the crew members have been working on the train for four years and making over 100 round trips between Beijing and Lhasa, which played an important role in promoting communication and unity between different ethnic groups.
