Professionals assessed the architectural painting skill of 30 farmers and herders Wednesday in Tibet, according to Tibet Business.
The professionals from the No. 9 Vocational Skills Assessment Institute of Tibet Autonomous Region asked those farmers and herders to paint with their full imagination on unadorned pillars. This way their painting skill was assessed. Those passing the exam will receive the certificates for senior artisans issued by the state.
Norbu Cering from southeastern Tibet's Shannan Prefecture said, I have been engaged in this business for more than 20 years, and I've made a lot of money. But without a relevant certificate, I find it hard to win trust when I'm going to undertake a major project. Now if I can get a certificate, that will never happen to me again.
Li Xinchang, head of the institute, said that the assessment will not only bolster the confidence of the art workers and help them to earn more, but also will enable the art of architectural painting to be better preserved and carried on.
