By the end of 2009, a total of 1.2 million farmers and herdsmen in Tibet will move into new houses thanks to the housing project in Tibet.
This year, 330,000 Tibetan farmers and herdsmen will be resettled in new house with special fund of 59,700 yuan from the government.

In 2006 Tibet made a plan aiming to reconstruct houses for 220,000 households and resettle 80 per cent of the total rural people in five years.
Up till 2008, 870,000 rural Tibetans of 172,000 households have moved into new houses.
Besides, Tibet allocated 286,000 yuan to boost issues related with agriculture, farmer and rural area in 2009. Loan totalling to about three billion yuan was granted to rural Tibetans between January and September.
