Underground passages at Potala Palace Square start building |

Photo taken on Sept. 4, 2009, shows the perspective render of the underground passages at the eastern and western sides of the Potala Palace Square in Tibet's capital of Lhasa. The two sides of the square often see traffic congestions as vehicles have to give way to streams of pilgrims, tourists and local residents. In August, the local government of Lhasa decided to built the city's first underground passages to ease the tension of the traffic. With the total investment reaching 50 million yuan (7.32 million U.S. dollars), the project is expected to be completed in 150 days, photo from Xinhua.
