"The Potala Palace remains the same as ever in outline and inner decoration," said the Tibetan elder Namgyai after knowing the 2nd renovation of Potala Palace has finished on Monday via TV.
The 2nd renovation of Potala Palace has officially concluded on August 23, together with another two projects i.e. Norbu Lingka and Sagya Monastery, but the Tibetan elder Namgyai insisted that the Potala Palace has not changed at all.
Hao Peng, executive vice chairman of Tibet Autonomous Region, said:"In order to maintain the inherently historical, artistic and scientific values of old architectures, the renovation has been trying to minimizes the changes and insure the authenticity of its original feature."
"To ensure the old architectures looks as it was before, the workers have adopted both modern and traditional technics while giving much priority to the original looking," said Qamba Kelzang, head of Potala Palace Administration. The modern technique has helped to solve many difficulties which can not be moved aside by traditional methods.
"The fact that the Chinese Central Government allocates huge investment to repair Potala Palace is regarded as a blessing for Tibetan people," said the Tibetan mom Yang lha, who is used to taking ritual walk around the palace every day.
Besides, dominated by Tibetan architecture feature, materials, technologies and shapes employed in the renovation are mostly identical with that of before.
According to Qamba Kelzang, as an example of traditional architecture, the construction of Potala Palace also combines with many architectural styles.
"We fully appreciate the government's effort to protect Tibetan culture," Samdrup Tsering, monk in Potala Palace said the reparation of Potala Palace benefits much to the mass.
