vPhags-pa Blo-gros-rgyal-mtshan(1235-1280),was the fifth generation forefather of the Sa-skya-pa Sect of Tibetan Buddhism.He was also a famous religious leader,politician, and scholar in the Yuan Dynasty.In the summer of 1252,Kublai dispatched envoys to invite vPhags-pa to meet him,discussing the relations between Tibetan religious leaders and Mongol royal families.vPhags-pa was respectfully regarded as Lama.Buddhist doctrines taught by him to the Crown Prince Chengem were compiled into Shes-byavi-rnam-bshad,translated into Chinese by She-ra-pa and collected in the Tripitaka of Chinese edition.
