"The Prince of Himalayas", directed by Hu Xuehua currently won a couple of prizes in the Italy Kaleboruiya Film Festival with Best Film Award and Best Director Award.
Italian noted actor Giuliano James issued the Best Director Award to Hu Xuehua. "The film is the most excellent adaptation in the history of film. The flawless combination of Tibetan culture and Shakespeare, shows the high genius of the director's perception toward eastern and western cultures," the judge came into an agreement.
"The Prince of Himalayas" is the only Chinese film candidate in the Italy Kaleboruiya Film Festival. It is highly praised by audiences as "one of the most successful adaptations of Shakespeare."
The movie stayed very true to the original plot of Hamlet, but the change of setting and a few extra touches made it worth a revisit. The male actor Pupagyal also won the Best Male Actor in the Monaco Film Festival held on May 18.
