A Chinese delegation of Tibetologists met a group of Lithuanian parliament members, holding an informal discussion to exchange views on Tibet.
Hao Shiyuan, president of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, briefed at the meeting on China’s strategy for the development of the western regions, the policy of regional ethnic autonomy, and the rapid economic development in Tibet in recent years.
Ceslovas Jursenas, vice Parliament Speaker expressed the pleasure to exchange views on Tibet with the visiting delegation. He said, "It's going to be 20 years since China and Lithuania established diplomatic relations following the important principles of equality, mutual benefit, mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
The Lithuanian government consistently adheres to the One-China policy.
In recent years, China has made amazing achievements. China’s international status has been significantly elevated. Lithuanian will strengthen its relationship with China in all aspects through dialogues, exchanges and cooperation in future.
The visiting delegation also held a report meeting on Tibet-related topics in Vilnius University of Lithuanian, and met local media.
The Chinese tibetologist delegation arrived in Lithuania on Mar.26 after a visit to Latvia. The delegation is also scheduled to visit Holland and Estonia.
