Lamas recite Buddhist scriptures in the hall of Samye Monastery in Lhoka Prefecture.[Photo/China Tibet Online]

Along the north riverbank of Yalur Zangbo River, Samye Monastery is located in Chanang County of Lhoka Prefecture.

The monastery was built in A.D.779, during the Khri-srong-lde-brtsan's reign, covering 9 hectares in all.
