On June 12, the 2017 Go &Car Rally Competition continued at Potala Palace Treasure Museum Square. This is the first time a Go competition is held at the foot of Potala Palace.
The Potala Palace Treasure Museum has an area of more than 2,000 square meters, and the three-storey architecture features unique Tibetan style comprised of earth and stone. People visit here in an endless stream every day. Six world Go champions including Ke Jie have come for the tournament. After 11 days of competition, the championship competition began on the 14th at Mt. Qomolangma Base Camp.
Ke Jie said that the Potala Palace and Mt. Qomolangma Base Camp may be the most sacred competition venues he has ever played at. He hopes he will play better.
Zhang Xin, deputy director of Tibet Autonomous Region’s Sports Bureau, said in a speech that this event was the perfect integration of Go and motor sports and showed the Tibetan scenery and local customs along the way, as well as spurring development of Tibet’s tourism industry.
