Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Qinghai Province has invested more than 100 million Yuan (about 13million euros and 15 million USD) to build an international outdoor ski and mountaineering base on Gangshika Snow Mountain, according to news from Xinhua News Agency.
Gangshika Snow Mountain is located in Menyuan Hui Autonomous County in Haibei Prefecture, which has an average elevation of 4,045 meters. The mountain peak is covered in snow year-round, providing an ideal spot for climbers. The average temperature on the Mountain from May to July is about 12 degrees Celsius, and it is thus known as a “Mid-Summer Skiing and Mountaineering Paradise”.
The mountain has already successfully held 7 “Gangshika International Ski and Mountaineering Conference” in seven consecutive years, helping introduce Gangshika’s unique charm to ski and climbing enthusiasts and establish a communication platform for the development of Asian and even global skiing and mountaineering sports.
Up to now, the tourist highway, mountain climbing base camp and visitor service center at the ski base have reportedly been completed. The next step is to improve the remaining infrastructure construction.
