Locally planted vegetables increase in Tibet

Various of vegetables has been increasingly yielded in Tibet in the recent years, and it is estimated that up to 95 percent of the vegetables sold in the market of Lhasa are produced in Tibet,People's Daily reported.

During the aestivo-autumnal seasons, around 80 percent of the vegetables sold in the open fair are locally cultivated,while the number drops to 60 percent in spring and winter.

The area for vegetables planting in Tibet has reached over 381 thousand mu with the output hitting 800,000 tons in 2013.

Tibet is going to remarkably promote the output of the vegetables in 2015,with the ratio of local vegetables standing at 90 percent in summer and autumn and 65 percent in spring and winter in its major towns.

For a long time, there has been only a small coverage of vegetalble planting in Lhasa and Shigates.

Nowadays,Tibet is able to plant vegetalble which are common in mainland areas locally..

The vegetables and fruits planted in the Zanda County of Nagri Prefecture are exported to its bordering countries.

The Bainang County of Shigatse Prefecture has become one of the largest production bases for vegetables which are out of season.
