Sun Laitong, former merchant and calligraphy amateur, has left his hometown in Henan Province for Lhasa at a fairly high age, showing his special preference to the time-honored city.

Lhasa boasts a history of 1,300 years, with rich cultural atmosphere and ethnic charms, attracting numerous people across the world.

The 60-year-old man is among those "captured" people by the city, having lived in Lhasa for many years. He said he enjoys the comfortable and tranquil life which inspires and sustains his interests in calligraphy at his age.

Almost practicing  every day in last five decades, Sun shows long-lasting enthusiasm in the ink calligraphy ever since his interests and talents were discovered in his childhood years.

Culture booms with the economic and social development in these years, Sun said, which brings more chances and platforms for folk culture. He said he is willing to open a folk calligraphy salon in Lhasa to repay the city in his own way.

"I love calligraphy, and I'd like to contribute my part to offer any help for Tibetan calligraphy lovers. It could be trainings for kid or youngsters," said Sun.

Sun Laitong also wishes to endeavor a platform for the study and exchanges of calligraphy enthusiasts in Tibet.
