On mountain peaks, riversides, passes or nearby temples and monasteries, sutra streamers could be seen everywhere in Tibet.

Buddhist scripture is printed on streamers of five kinds of colors, namely red, yellow, green, blue and white, which embodies different meanings. Blue stands for the sky, white for cloud, red for fire, green for water and yellow for earth. As streamers waving in wind, pilgrims believe that holy sprits will receive their respect and their wishes are conveyed to deities.

To Tibetan Buddhism believers, the fluttering of sutra streamers means chanting sutra for human beings. They bear the best wishes of local people.
