Legend has it that on the 15th day of the 6th month of the Tibetan lunar year marks the day for the reincarnation of Sakyamuni, founder of Buddhism. Later, the day became the Buddha Painting Displaying Festival of the Ganden Monastery, a leading monastery of the Tibetan Buddhism near Lhasa, capital city of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR).
The "guard of honor" made up by lamas dressed in red capes presents a splendid view at the ceremony. During the ceremony, grave blare from several-meter-long silvery Dharma horns, green and blue drummers placed in a line -- all this looks grand and bright-colored against vivid red wall.
Besides, devout Buddhist followers will ignite mulberry twigs and hung prayer streamers on a hillside early in the morning to celebrate the grand event.
