On August 16, doctors from Beijing Stomatological Hospital made a special trip to Lhasa to reexamine a Tibetan woman, who was given an operation to move a neoplasm weighing 5kg on her neck last year with the support from all circles in the society.
From Pangkog county in Ngari Prefecture of Tibet, 47-year-old Siqiu Drolma now leads a perfectly normal life.
A bump was found on Drolma's neck 29 years ago. But due to poverty and lack of medicine, she had nothing to do with the neoplasm and it grew into a huge neoplasm as large as two heads.
Siqiu Drolma's husband died early and she lives with her daughter who is mentally disabled. With sickness, Siqiu Drolma has to live on subsidies from the government.
Li Yichao, an official from Sinopec in Beijing who begun to aid Siqiu Drolma nine years ago tried to help her cure her disease. Later, many other people joined in to help her.
At the end of March, 2010, Siqiu Drolma arrived in Beijing for an operation supported by hospitals such as Beijing Tibet Hospital, Beijing Anzhen Hospital, and Beijing Stomatological Hospital as well as people from other fields.
After the operation given by Beijing Stomatological Hospital, her a neoplasm weighing 5kg was removed successfully on April 21, 2010.
"Our motherland is like a big family and the Beijing people are so warm-hearted," Siqiu Drolma told the reporter after her operation.
