Every August, tourists from all over the world are attracted to Tibet Autonomous Region in southwest China, by its various upcoming traditional festivals, such as Lhasa Shoton Festival, Ongkor Festival and Horse Racing Festival.

Statistics shows that Tibet receives over 10,000 tourists daily and reportedly has received a total of 2,249,000 domestic and foreign tourists in the first half of 2011, increasing by 24.8% over that of last year, according to the regional tourism bureau of Tibet.

Tourism has become a pillar industry in Tibet, thanks to the remarkable improvement of its infrastructure and transportation in recent years.
