Tibet's GDP grows
Tibet's GDP increased from 129 million in 1951 to 50.746 billion yuan in 2010.
Production and living conditions remarkably improve
In the past 60 years, China's central government launched ambitious programs to build large-scale farmlands and grasslands, popularize science and technology in agriculture and animal husbandry, and promote agricultural mechanization, which resulted in the great improvement of the conditions of people's livelihood as well as agriculture and animal husbandry in Tibet.
The grain output increased from 182,900 tons in 1959 to 920,000 tons in 2010. And the number of livestock has reached 23,210,000 with 13,650,000 more than 1959.
Industrial value added grows stronger
At present, the industrial production with Tibetan characteristics has been established by developing building industry, handicraftsI, and Tibetan medicine industry. Tibet's industrial value added has grown from 0.15 billion yuan in 1959 to 3.973 billion yuan in 2010.
Net annual income of Tibetan farmers and herders increases
The per capita net annual income of Tibetan farmers and herders reached 4,138.7 yuan in 2010, nearly 118 times more than that of 1959. TV sets, telephones, refrigerators, computers have become accessible in ordinary Tibetans' life.
