Recently, ruddy shelducks have started their spring migration again as ice thaws in the Lhasa River in Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.
Flocks of birds fly away from Lhasa River, their wintering habitat in Lhasa in central Tibet.
Migrant birds will be back next winter in late October or early November.
These years, more and more ruddy shelducks fly to overwinter along Lhasa River and in wetlands nearby, thanks to the increasingly intensified eco-protection efforts.
